Terms of Service
Last updated: July 29, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Beacons app and website (“the service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
The service
Beacons lets you share time-limited meetup plans with people you know. The service is currently in private beta: features may change, break, or be removed, and we may reset data as the product evolves. We’ll be thoughtful about it, but beta means beta.
Your account
- You need a valid phone number to create an account, and you’re responsible for activity that happens under it.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Beacons.
- Keep your device secure—anyone with your unlocked phone can act as you.
Acceptable use
- Use Beacons only to coordinate with people who have accepted a connection with you.
- No harassment, threats, hate, or impersonation—in beacons, chats, or invites.
- Respect other people’s privacy: don’t share someone’s location, plans, or contact information outside the app without their consent.
- No unlawful activity, spam, scraping, reverse engineering, or attempts to circumvent rate limits and safety systems.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Your content
You own what you post (beacon details, chat messages). You grant us the limited license needed to store, transmit, and display that content to the people you’ve chosen to share it with—that’s all we use it for. Blocking someone removes their access to your beacons and future activity.
Safety
Beacons helps you meet people you already know in the real world. Use your judgment when meeting anyone, share plans only with people you trust, and report abusive behavior in the app or to hi@sendbeacons.com.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that notifications will always be delivered on time.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beacons and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for anything that happens at or because of a meetup arranged through the service.
Termination
You can stop using Beacons at any time and request account deletion at hi@sendbeacons.com. We may suspend or end the service, or your access to it, where reasonably necessary—including for violations of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. If changes are material, we’ll update this page and note the new date above. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
